Developmental Disability Agency

create a brighter future through early intervention and learning

SL Start offers services that improve the quality of life for children and families in Idaho. As a certified Developmental Disability Agency, we offer Developmental Therapy and Intensive Behavior Intervention services for eligible children and teens age 3 to 21. These individually-tailored services provide the skills a child needs to participate more fully at home, school, and in the community.

developmental therapy

Developmental Therapy is designed to teach your child the life skills they need to become more independent. Therapy may include teaching a child how to communicate wants and needs, meet personal care needs, and interact with others. Therapies are provided in the most effective setting for learning, including the child’s home, school, and other community locations. Most therapy is conducted one-on-one.

intensive behavior intervention

Intensive Behavior Intervention (IBI) is a program designed especially for children who have challenging behaviors that interfere with learning, family and community life. The core strategy of the IBI program is to teach your child how to use positive, socially-accepted behaviors to replace behaviors that are limiting their success. IBI services include support for families, schools, and other key people in your child's life.

after school and summer programs

SL Start also offers after-school and summer therapy programs. These programs are fun and engaging, while at the same time providing your child the structure and consistency needed to maintain and grow skills.
